Ctenanthe setosa Never-Never Plant, often sold as Calathea setosa
Environmental stress. The tight, tube-like curl is the plant conserving moisture, from low humidity, underwatering, or hot air. Note the heating vent on the floor nearby. Spider mites often follow stressed Marantaceae, so check the leaf undersides.
- Relocate. Move it off the heat vent and out of the draft.
- Wash. Rinse both leaf sides with tepid water, trim dead stems.
- Water. Soak until it drains, then let it drain fully.
- Insecticidal soap, only if mites persist.
- Pyrethrin, last resort only.
